WOLFSHEIM is a magnificent forest expanse, full of lush coniferous and deciduous trees. There are ponds, streams and a river that passes through, with an abundance of small fish and beautiful songbirds. There are several small fields that act as hunting plains leading out into the Plains of Aesir. Wolfsheim is difficult to get to, because it is wedged securely within the large branches of the Amaroq Mountain range - with only one entrance at the west end. Home to the secretive, reclusive Terrasyn pack.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, porcupine, mice, badgers, groundhog, vole, rabbit, bat, fox, coyote, white-tail deer, raccoon, skunk, opossum, brown bear, black bear, cave bear, lynx.
RAPTURE CANYON is a labyrinth of gorges, narrow passageways, and caves. The Canyon has a passageway system that runs inside the rock, with openings from above, letting in natural light. There is very little water, especially in the summer heat, but during spring there are small waterfalls and fresh, clear springs from the melting snow. The canyon has one central direction, leading to a dead end, which is used for cornering prey. The top of the canyon can only be reached by a natural pathway deep within the heart of the territory. Claimed by Shadovale.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds of prey, birds, mice, bighorn sheep, jackrabbit, cougar, coyote, reptiles, bobcats.
WILDHAVEN is a large forest expanse that consists mainly of coniferous trees with several northern deciduous species. The woodland is quite green, with a great deal of moss to cover the earth and rocks scattered around. While there is no major river present, there are a few small streams available to the small population of wildlife present.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, porcupine, mice, badgers, groundhog, vole, rabbit, bat, fox, coyote, white-tail deer, raccoon, skunk, opossum, brown bear, lynx.
The NORTHLAND is a massive forested expanse sitting upon a shield of rock, which remains hidden several feet beneath the ground. The soil is fairly poor and full of rocks and stone fragments. Home to both coniferous and deciduous trees, the Northlands contain several large rivers and a few branching streams. Hills and shards of stone jutting out from the earth sporadically are a common sight in the Northlands, and travelers must be sure of foot to traverse the often rough terrain.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, porcupine, mice, badgers, wolverine, beaver, groundhog, vole, rabbit, fox, coyote, elk, moose, caribou, raccoon, skunk, brown bear, black bear, mountain lion, cougar, bobcat, lynx.
REDSTONE RIVER is a small corridor of forest containing beautiful old redwood trees, with one large river winding down the center of it. There are many red-coloured stones scattered throughout the redwood forest, but there is a gathering of them in and along the river.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, porcupine, mice, groundhog, vole, rabbit, fox, coyote, white-tail deer, raccoon, skunk, opossum.
The VIRIDIAN CASCADES are a series of small lakes that descend from one of the lower points of Amaroq Mountain. Each lake ends in a waterfall that pours down into the next lake - much like a small set of steps. The cascades are lined in thick, lush forest full of beautiful birds and rocky escarpments. Known for having the greatest variety of berries, and a large amount of active fireflies, the Viridian Cascades are considered a romantic oasis.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds (especially songbirds), mice, fireflies, a wide variety of fish, fox, coyote, elk, white-tail deer, badger, otter, marten, mink, rabbit, vole, black bear, brown bear, lynx.
THUNDER RIDGE is a massive set of cliffs and escarpments that reach impressive heights, named after the amount of thunderstorms that occur in the region. While Thunder Ridge lacks any large clusters of forest, it is occupied by many small shrubs and bushes growing in between the sheets of rock. The cliffs are quite dangerous, and falling rocks occur regularly.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds (especially birds of prey), bighorn sheep, black bear, bobcat, lynx, cougar.
The PLAINS OF AESIR is a massive flat land full of tall golden grass, shorter green and yellow grasses, and several small shrubs and bushes scattered through out. The Plains of Aesir sit at the base of Amaroq Mountain, and act as neutral ground between Shadovale and Terrasyn territories. There are several smaller sections devoid of tall grasses and covered thickly in lichen.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds, bison, caribou, fox, coyote, lynx, bobcat, brown bear, mice, rabbit, vole, snakes.
AMAROQ MOUNTAIN is the enormous, towering mountain range located in the center of the continent. The frigid, dangerous summit is entirely desolate - for it is far too difficult for any creature to survive on its great peaks. The mountain range wraps around the southern half of the continent, making it quite difficult to reach both the Terrasyn and Shadovale territories, which sit at the base of the mountains with the Plains of Aesir to separate them.
An active volcano looms at its core, ominous and threatening. There is often a plume of dark ash hovering above the central crater.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds of prey, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, dall sheep, cougar, snow leopard, rabbit, mice, pika, woodrat, squirrel, marmot.
The OBSIDIAN CLIFFS sit along the coastline on the western side of Amaroq Mountain, towering over the ocean. The cliffs have a distinct black colour due to the high obsidian content in the rock. The cliffs were formed thousands of years ago after a massive eruption from Amaroq Mountain, and act as an eerie and desolate reminder of nature's fury. Partially claimed by the illusive Blackheart clan.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Birds, birds of prey, bighorn sheep, mice.
WINTERFELL is one of the oldest forests in Primeval, located deep in a valley that prevents a lot of the wind from reaching it. Since Wintertide is so far north, there is snow on the ground year round. Due to the lack of strong winds, everything is often covered in a sheet of snow. It is quiet, tranquil and home to only a few species of animals. Winterfell is massive, and it's great white forest opens up into expansive frozen plains.
NOTABLE WILDLIFE: Muskox, snowshoe hare, arctic fox, wolverine, reindeer, lemming, polar bear, lynx, marmot, tundra vole.
